For the first time, the city of Dallas is hosting the Restaurant Innovation Summit where leaders in the restaurant industry will meet to discuss how technology will shape our dining experience.
The summit involved senior-level management from all varieties of the restaurant and hospitality industry. Their focus is rethinking every aspect the customer experience.
Restaurants will begin to weave technology throughout the dining experience by using gaming, robot deliveries and virtual reality, according to Lampix, a company using 3D imaging technology to turn table tops into a "smart screen." The screen allows the consumer to interact with the web, restaurant wait staff and other guests.
"It's a great way to engage with the place that you like to eat, engage with your food, and engage with the people around you," said Salvatore Buccellato, a Lampix spokesman. "The technology allows you to create a shared immersive augmented reality experience. Augmented reality is not a fade or a trend, its the future."
The summit is held at The Empire Room in the Design District in Dallas.
