Dr. Konstantin Frank ignited the “vinifera revolution”, a movement that forever changed the course of wine growing in the Finger Lakes and the United States. Dr. Frank’s vision, knowledge, and determination are credited with elevating the New York wine industry from a state of happy mediocrity to a level that today commands world attention. We believe quality starts in the vineyards with careful attention to detail and nurturing of our old vine vineyards first planted by Konstantin in 1958. These vines are among the oldest in the United States. While they produce fewer grapes, the quality of the fruit results in more complex wines. Over the years we have discovered that the northern European grape varieties are most well suited for our region and have made it our passion to champion these at our winery. Varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and, most recently, Grüner Veltliner are among the most prized and beloved at our winery. Third generation Fred Frank and fourth generation Meaghan Frank are at the helm continuing our tradition of excellence and determination. Most recently Meaghan has developed a new top level of wines called the Helm Series all named after influential Frank women over the generations. Our winery experience continues to evolve from its standard tasting bar to in-depth educational tasting experiences.
