Leading restaurants across Australia will take part in StreetSmart’s Christmas DineSmart Campaign, with a goal to raise $250,000 to tackle homelessness.
Hospitality leaders unite to tackle homelessness
Between November 24 and December 24, diners at participating restaurants will be asked to add $1 per person to the bill to support the campaign.
Charity organisation StreetSmart hopes to raise at least $250,000 for homelessness projects during the campaign, adding to the $4.5 million raised to date.
This year the campaign period has been shorted by two weeks, however the donation has changed from $2 per table to $1 per person.
“This will be our 15th DineSmart and $2 doesn’t go as far as when we held the first DineSmart,” said StreetSmart CEO Adam Robinson.
“With the increased demand for support and critical funding shortages in the homelessness sector, we are confident that supporters will share the Christmas spirit and chip in a little more to help some of our most vulnerable.”
DineSmart also welcomes the support of Uber Eats, who will donate $10 for each new customer who signs up using the DINESMART17 promo code and OpenTable who will donate $1 for every table booked at participating restaurants through their online reservation platform.
A line up of new restaurants have joined the campaign this year, such as BKK, Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel, Hotel Jesus, Marion, Meat Maiden, Merchant Osteria Veneta, San Telmo and Tipo OO. They join long time supporters such as Café Sydney, Chin Chin, Ezard, Longrain, Punch Lane, Ladro, Top Paddock Stalactites and more.
