Today Chef Ryan Gromfin of The Restaurant Boss.com provided new insight and solutions for operators to stay the course. The following content is a combination of direct quotes and commentary from Go-wine.com.

The full facebook live may be viewed here.

We recommend you watch last week's presentation first it is here and review the summary of the first facebook live here.

Chef Ryan: "This is a Marathon. Not a Sprint.

We are in a Marathon. Slow and Steady wins the race. Manage your energy. We need you strong for the finish. Don’t bury your head in the sand. Pace yourself.

Think of this problem with a plan. Success is a squiggly line. Over a period of time where we want to go can only be acheived with a plan.

What food are feeding your business while your business is sick? What are you telling your business right now? What advice are you giving your business? What negativity are you feeding yourself? Feed yourself good news.  Feed your business quality knowledge."

Ryan continued with some turnkey advice:

  • Avoid negativity. Avoid the garbage in, garbage out philosophy. We need to execute on our monthly plan. Stay on the path. Keep growing.
  • More wealth is generated in bad economies than in good economies. More opportunities are generated in bad economies than in in good economies.
  • If your operation is closed, now is the time to get on the self-improvement program.

As he wrapped up he provided some insights which should be posted somewhere visible for all to see. These key leadership tactics were some of the most important take aways from today's session.

Leading during challenging times

9 things:

1. Control your fear.

2. Feel the fear but control it. Fear is like a disease, it spreads like wildfire.

3. Achieve the objective.

4. Remember the mission comes before you. It is not about you. Great leaders are selfless.

5. Rely on your preparation.

6. Be tough but still human. Be strict but never mean.

7. Encourage your people.

8. Communicate effectively.

9. Use your resources effectively. Don’t hoard.

What impresses us most about Ryan's approach as that he is teaching us to lead and operate based on concrete plans rather than drowning in the uncertainty and fear of one data point. These are some of the toughest times anyone may have ever faced yet, and how we navigate will define our reality.
