While we’re all finding unique and creative ways to calm the travel bug—whether that means checking out virtual exhibits, traveling domestically, or cooking up your favorite international cuisine at home, Singapore Airlines is offering a quirky alternative to in-flight dining that is set to appeal to travelers hungry for take off.
As part of its “Discover Your Singapore Airlines” initiative, the airline plans to launch a limited-time dining experience onboard its A380 double-decker aircraft at Changi Airport in Singapore.
Guests hoping to snag a seat at the quirky restaurant, known as Restaurant A380 @Changi” will have to pass through airport security and board the aircraft via jet bridge—as if they’re boarding a regular flight. Once seated, guests will be invited to choose from special menus for each cabin class—including a range of international cuisine, as well as dishes from the airline’s special Peranakan menu that has been designed by acclaimed Singaporean chef Shermay Lee. From there, guests will be served by regular cabin crew and will be able to enjoy in-flight entertainment while dining.
“With Covid-19 drastically reducing the number of flights operated by the SIA Group, we have created unique activities that would allow us to engage with our fans and customers during this time. These experiences offer something for everyone – from frequent flyers who miss our world-class in-cabin products and service, to couples and families who want an exclusive dining experience, and parents who are after an enjoyable activity-filled day with their children during the school holidays,” said SIA Chief Executive Officer Mr Goh Choon Phong in a press release.
The hyper exclusive restaurant will only operate on October 24 and 25 with reservations opening to the public on October 12. More information on the Discover Your Singapore Airlines suite of experiences can be found on the official Singapore Airlines website.
