Dunkin’ Donuts is upping the ante with its latest menu offering.
The donut company is joining forces with Harpoon Brewery to offer customers an alternative beverage to dine with its donuts: coffee-flavored beer.
According to Boston.com, Dunkin’ Donuts has been dabbling in the beer industry since early July, when the company filed for three labels for its upcoming beverage with the Treasury Department’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.
The upcoming coffee-inspired beer called ‘Dunkin’ Coffee Porter’ will be available in bottles and cans with the brand’s pink and orange branding plastered on the packaging. The beverage contains “six percent alcohol-by-volume content” and is described as a flavored malt drink that is brewed together with Dunkin’s coffee to become “toasty” and “smooth.”
Harpoon’s spokesperson Chris Bonacci told Boston.com that the beverage is already in the works and will be making its debut in either late October or early November. ‘Dunkin’ Coffee Porter’ will be released regionally and considered for a nationwide release if it becomes a hit.
This is not the first time Dunkin’ Donuts has offered an alcoholic beverage. Back in December 2017, the donut company partnered with Massachusetts-based company Wormtown Brewery to create ‘DDark Roasted Brew’—the company’s first draft beer that was, unfortunately, only available at Wormtown’s taproom
