In case you didn’t know, the government of Ontario is the biggest buyer of wine in the world. Now, with the legalization of cannabis just one week away, the government of Ontario could become the largest wholesale buyer of weed as well. Producer across the country are scrambling to keep up with the predicted demand, not only in Ontario but also in the nine other provinces. In Ontario, you will only be able to purchase cannabis from a government-run website, whereas other provinces will have traditional storefront dispensaries.
This means that the only place to get weed in Ontario will be controlled by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario and its subsidiary the Ontario Cannabis Store. However, under Doug Ford’s Conservatives, cannabis will be allowed to be smoked anywhere that cigarettes can be smoked. There will be no storefronts for the first six months; however, there will be no cap on the amount of private retail in Ontario.
Many provinces are limiting the number of storefronts while supplying the stores could be another issue. There is a deficit of product, though micro licenses will be coming online soon, which will lead to craft cannabis and more. Speak your thoughts on the news below and give us your thoughts in the comments. Stay tuned for more on this coming soon.
